Reggier level 1.2.3

🪢 What Is a Rigger?

A Rigger is a trained worker who specializes in lifting, moving, and positioning heavy materials or equipment safely using ropes, chains, pulleys, and cranes. Riggers play a very important role on construction sites, oil and gas plants, shipyards, and industrial projects, where large and heavy loads need to be lifted and installed with precision.

The rigger’s main job is to prepare and attach the load correctly before the crane or lifting machine begins to move it. They select the right lifting gear (like slings, shackles, and hooks), make sure everything is balanced and secured, and then communicate with the crane operator using hand signals or radios to guide the lift safely.

A rigger must understand weight limits, load angles, and safety procedures to avoid accidents or damage. They also inspect all lifting tools and equipment before every use to ensure they are in good condition.

There are different levels of riggers — such as Rigger Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 — each representing higher skill, experience, and responsibility.

  • Rigger Level 1: Basic knowledge of lifting and safety.
  • Rigger Level 2: Can supervise small lifts and perform more complex rigging tasks.
  • Rigger Level 3: Highly skilled; can plan, supervise, and manage critical lifting operations.

In short, a Rigger is the key person who ensures every heavy lift is done safely and correctly — protecting both workers and equipment
